MIRROR - IN TO THE WOOD (Nurse With Wound NWW related) [Three Poplars, 2002, UK]

Another super-limited Mirror CDR (maybe 200 or so were pressed).

If you're familiar with Nurse With Wound, La Monte Young and the like, this needs no introduction.

Nice blog. One thing though, 160 bit files seem kind of sub-par today when most are using 192 bit or higher. Ever tried VBR?

Thanks for the comment.

iTunes default rip is 160. In addition, this music is intended for sample purposes only. If you need something higher than a sample quality, please track down the album online or in a store.

The other thing is that it takes me 2-3 hours to upload just one album. If I used 192 or higher, I would probably only get around to posting new stuff 2-3 times a week, instead of every day.

High speed Cable/DSL internet is not available where I live.

Changing the bitrate in itunes is no big deal. You should try variable bit rate, maybe at 192 or 224 or so. Because of the way variable encodes(high when the music is complex, lower when it isn't), the files shouldn't be much bigger than the constant bit 160 files you have now.

As for tracking the stuff down, limited 100 copy or 500 copy releases that sold out years ago aren't very easy to find.

If you want to encourage purchase, you might try linking where one might find each release. But, given the limited nature of some of the music, maybe that is asking too much?

Thanks for the tip! I will try VBR and see if that works.

Anyone looking for out of print stuff should google it. That's what I do. I post such a variety of music that there's no one place which will have everything.

radio alphawellen
very nice sounds!
if you up them in VBR 1 it would be very fine and small!! VBR 2 is also o.k. but mostly not very smaller than vbr 1 ...
you dont need to post every day, every week is enough, i think so ...
good luck and have fun with your blog
