When I was in high school, I would sit in the dark and listen to this piece for hours on the headphones, with the volume cranked up as high as it would go.
If you ever wondered what the end of the world might sound like, this is probably it.
Cannot recommend this enough. It's my favorite Gate/Dead C piece of all time. If you have headphones, use them, but if not, still crank it up to 10. Listen in the dark if you dare.
